Dodgeball Alberta AGM Highlights: Board Updates and New Director Appointments

Updated: Jun 24

Dodgeball Alberta recently hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), a key event that brought together members to reflect on the organization’s achievements and discuss upcoming initiatives. This meeting served as a platform to share updates and set the course for Dodgeball Alberta's future.

During the AGM, board directors presented detailed reports, showcasing the heavy operational aspects of the board's work, along with the push to improve governance. This dedication to enhancing operational practices aims to build a strong foundation for the organization’s growth and longevity.

An especially exciting highlight was the remarkable growth of Dodgeball Alberta's Instagram account, which has increased by three fold in some areas. This surge in online followers shows the organization’s commitment to fostering an engaged and enthusiastic community around the sport.

New Director Appointments

The AGM featured the election of new directors who bring valuable skills and experiences to the board. Their fresh perspectives will help drive the organization forward. The new appointments include:

  • Kristopher Banner, elected as Vice President. His leadership abilities and passion for dodgeball are sure to shape the board's strategic vision effectively.

  • Rachel Wong, previously the Director of Records, now takes on the role of Director of Finance. Her background in finance will be crucial in ensuring Dodgeball Alberta maintains a strong financial position, as the organization aims to boost sponsorship funding.

  • Jessica Shmigelsky has been appointed as Director of Communications, tasked with enhancing the organization’s messaging and outreach efforts. With her role, she aims to create consistent messaging through branding guidelines and monthly analytics reporting.

  • Chris Berry will serve as Director at Large - Youth & League Liaison. As a brand new position, the liaison will be the direct link between leagues in Alberta and DA, including a special focus on building youth participation. This position is well suited for Chris with his already extensive experience as a league owner and his time building the youth community during the World Youth Open.

  • Tiffany Fung joins as a Director at Large focusing on volunteers. As another new role, TJ will focus on building DA's volunteer program. TJ has spent a great deal of time volunteering for DA events and has a passion for getting people involved in dodgeball.

Also, Betty Mak will be taking over the Director of Records position, as Rachel moves into the Director of Finance position.

With this new leadership team, Dodgeball Alberta is well-positioned to expand its impact within the community and improve experiences for players and fans alike.
