With seven spots on the line for the national stage, the competition was fierce. Here is how the final standings shook out:

Raising the Bar: The Referee Initiative

While the action on the court was top-tier, Dodgeball Alberta is committed to ensuring that the support systems surrounding the game—specifically officiating—are just as elite.

We’ve heard your feedback from the tournament. To ensure our officiating is the best it can be, Dodgeball Alberta is continuing plans to create and execute a comprehensive referee program. We are thrilled to announce that this initiative will be led by our Head Ref, Jack Phavone.

Jack’s expertise will be supported by oversight from the Director of Sport and Player Development. This is a vital board position that will be open for election at our AGM in June. If you are passionate about the growth and technical standards of our sport, stay tuned—more details on the election and the referee program will be coming out soon.

What’s coming next?

  • Professional Development: Under Jack’s leadership, we are developing a structured training and certification path for local officials.

  • Expansion of Talent: We are exploring the possibility of increasing tournament fees in the future. This adjustment would allow us to bring in paid, experienced referees from other provinces for major events, ensuring a diverse and professional officiating pool.

We believe these steps are vital for the integrity and growth of the sport in Alberta. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and cheered from the sidelines!
