Officials

Head Referees

We are looking for head referees for the duration of the weekend event. Head referees must have completed the Cloth Level 1 Officials Test (coming soon).

If you are interested in a Head Referee position or being an assistant please sign up using the link below. This will be a paid position based on games officiated.

Team Referees

Teams will be supplying line refs and secondary refs for each game to help support a better player experience.

Rules

This event will follow WDBF rules (http://www.worlddodgeballfederation.com/rules/). All referees will need to be a member of Dodgeball Canada and have completed their Level 1 certification. Certification is not a huge time commitment, can be completed online and is free. Here is the link (https://www.dodgeballcanada.org/officials-certificate-program).

 

There will also be opportunities to further your refereeing and linesperson experience through additional events and tournaments leading up to the National Dodgeball Championships. Please fill in the following form to apply!

Compensation

PLAYER-OFFICIALS

Each competing team is required to put forward three (3) officials who will be available to officiate on a part-time basis. Player-officials are not compensated.

NON-PLAYER OFFICIALS

Non-player officials will be compensated as follows:

  • Round robin games: 10$ per match

  • Playoff games: 15$ per match

​

FULL-TIME OFFICIALS ALSO GET:

  • A free official shirt

  • Meals are provided


NEW THIS YEAR

Teams will have to officiate! The reffing schedule will work around player's tournament schedule. More information will be shared with captains in the upcoming weeks.

Compensation will be sent within 30 days of the conclusion of the tournament.​

Time Commitment

Officials can apply on a part-time or full-time basis:

  • Part-time (Open to player-officials and designated ball retrievers, and non-player officials): Available for some, but not all, time slots.

  • Full-time (Open to non-player officials only): Available during all time slots
