Brian Warring
Head Coach, Mixed Cloth
I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. I have been in love with the game of dodgeball since the first time I played when I was only 17 in 2004 in the first season of Extreme Dodgeball Hamilton, Canada’s first cloth dodgeball league. After over a decade of playing, reffing and watching the sport develop at EDH, I began playing for new leagues that were beginning to sprout up as the cloth community expanded. Soon I found myself playing and reffing for Dodgeball Niagara, Playhamilton, Grimsby Smash and Hamilton Dodgeball as I watched the cloth community grow.
In 2017 I tried out for Cloth Team Canada, where I was selected as an alternate player and trained for the Cloth Dodgeball World Cup in New York City in 2018. It was during this tournament that I naturally shifted to the sidelines and have since stepped onto the coaching side of this team. I have been working hard over the last 4 years towards building a strong Canadian cloth dodgeball presence on the international stage.
I am thrilled that the WDBF and Dodgeball Canada have incorporated cloth dodgeball into the organization and hope that the dual format tournament this year will show the rest of Canada what cloth dodgeball is all about and encourage leagues across the country to give it a try. I am a strong advocate for the expansion of cloth dodgeball across Canada so please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about the game style
or want to get your league involved in cloth dodgeball.
I am proud to represent Dodgeball Canada as a Head Coach as we prepare for the world championship in August this year. I have been fortunate to travel to Madison Square Garden, Washington D.C., even all the way to Nottingham, England for dodgeball, but having the opportunity to represent Team Canada as a Head Coach on our home soil in Edmonton is an honour I will forever be grateful for.
